Erica Baller, MD, MS

Principal Investigator

Dr. Erica Baller is a dedicated physician-scientist who uses diverse imaging modalities and informatics to uncover the mechanisms that underlie mood and cognition in patients with comorbid psychiatric and medical illnesses. With a strong foundation in consultation-liaison psychiatry and an extensive background in functional neuroimaging, Dr. Baller is a bridge-builder between the realms of clinical practice and cutting-edge research. She completed her general psychiatry residency training at the University of Pennsylvania, Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry Fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital, and T32 Neuropsychiatry Fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania. In addition to directing the Baller Lab, Dr. Baller serves as an Attending Psychiatrist on the Consultation-Liaison psychiatry service at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Baller holds board certifications in General Psychiatry and Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry.

 

Dr. Baller has made significant contributions to the fields of neuropsychiatry, neurodevelopment, mood disorders, and women's mental health. Her pioneering work involves the utilization of neuroimaging techniques such as PET, MRI, and fMRI to investigate the neural underpinnings of mood disorders. She has also demonstrated a commitment to teaching and mentorship, actively supervising psychiatry and neurology residents, consultation-liaison psychiatry fellows, and serving as Director of the Psychiatry Residency Neuroscience Curriculum.
